City that Care Forgot
Charles Hillingham is the oldest Ventrue resident of the city who is not part of Alejandro’s lineage.
He arrived from Virginia in 1819, after departing “unpleaseant company.” He quickly made a name for himself by backing other upper class families and their ventures in city improvment. He helped fuind the development of Faubourg St. Mary, now the city’s central business district. He also was a majopr financial backer of the first English-language theatre in the city, secured bonds that helped to introduced gas lighting in the 1820s and 1830s, as well as being a founding member of such groups as the Mystick Krewe of Comus and the Krewe of Rex.
After Carina’s death in 1993 he made the politcal push and after much infighting was recognized as the Ventrue Primogen.
